Divorcing Twice Doesn’t Make Me A Failed Woman – Funke Akindele reveals

Renowned Nollywood actress and movie producer, Olufunke Akindele Ayotunde, popularly known as Funke Akindele has opened up about her divorce from her former husband, JJC Skillz.

Funke boldly declared that her two failed marriages do not define her as a failed woman.

Speaking in an interview with Wazobia FM, in Lagos, Nigeria, the movie star explained that her mother taught her early in life that without failure, there can’t be success. Funke added that she always embraces life and every experience as it comes.

“If you don’t fail, you can’t be successful. You have to keep trying. Like when a child is trying to walk, the child will walk small and just fall off. So it’s normal for you to fall but you just have to pick yourself and rise again.

”For me, I see failure, I see challenges, I see obstacles, as part of life. My mum raised me like that. My mum will say if you do not fail, if you do not fall, you cannot succeed. So you have to keep going. And note, I do not even see the failures” she stated.

The famed actress who has been in the news for weeks after she premiered her movie “A Tribe Called Judah”  emphasised the importance of protecting her mental health and nurturing her thriving career. The movie producer made known that she aims to live an impactful life, leaving a positive imprint on her children and the younger generation.

”My personal life – marriage, I just take it as it comes. My mental health is very important. My career is very important, darling. I have to make an impact. I have to empower a lot of people. I have to inspire young people out there.

“I have to stay strong for my children and my siblings. Why am I living? I have a purpose, so my head is up. Yes I cry, yes I break down, but after I cry, I just look in the mirror and say, ‘keep moving,’’ she emphasizied.

Funke Akindele got married to Oloyede, a Lagos-based businessman, in 2012, and the marriage lasted for only 413 days as issues of abuse surrounded the union.

In 2016 Funke Akindele found love again and married a music star, Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz.

However, in July 2022, JJC Skillz, husband of Funke Akindele, revealed on social media that their marriage had ended after six years together and the birth of twin sons in 2018.
