I Hope Our Politicians Are Taking Notes On The Coup D’etats Happening In Burkina Faso, Niger & Mali – Kwaw Kese

Ghanaian rapper, Kwaw Kese has seemingly ‘warned’ the government of Ghana against the myriad of coup d’etats happening in the West African sub-region.

According to the rapper, whatever is happening in Ghana’s neighbouring countries could trickle down to the nation. He is therefore hoping that the government of the day is taking notes and making sure they do the right thing to prevent any uprising.

“Whatever is happening in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger is not too far away from Ghana. I hope our politicians are taking notes,” Kwaw Kese tweeted Wednesday, Aug 2.

Over the week in Niger, the military junta, now calling itself the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland, announced on Wednesday that it had captured democratically-elected President Mohamed Bazoum and removed his government from power, citing national security and corruption. The coup is led by General Abdourahmane Tchiani, the commander of the presidential guard and a close ally of Bazoum’s predecessor, Mahamadou Issoufou.

Meanwhile, Burkina Faso also suffered its second coup of the year when Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the 34-year-old head of an artillery unit of the Armed Forces of Burkina Faso, declared himself head of state on September 30, 2022. The coup ousted the previous junta leader, Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba. Traoré justified his seizure of power on Burkina Faso’s deteriorating security situation. Damiba had led an earlier coup in January 2022, similarly claiming he would address the country’s security crisis.
